Project Manager (Software Solutions)

Job Description: We’re looking for a Project Manager to join our fast expanding consultancy practice. We work with a range of well-known, blue-chip clients across multiple sectors, helping them to overcome their information management challenges and unlock the capability of their data.

The role preferably requires over 2 years’ experience and should ideally come from a software solutions background, although this is not essential. All applicants must have significant stakeholder management expertise and be highly adept at interfacing with the business and understanding the commercial objectives of their work. The candidate must be able to work on their own without supervision and be willing to travel to different customer sites. They should have excellent communication skills and can adapt where needed to both technical and business people.

The successful candidate will have a practical, hands-on style, and demonstrate the ability and willingness to apply a flexible approach to the different challenges that each project will bring.

Job Responsibilities:

Ensuring the successful (on time & on budget) delivery of highly complex data warehousing and business analytics-based software solutions projects.

Job Duties:

  • Managing the delivery of large scale business analytics projects.
  • Ensuring the successful delivery of projects with a range of methodologies.
  • Monitoring and reporting progress against agreed plans.
  • Liaising with technical colleagues and client project staff.
  • Managing and clearing issues logs.
  • Managing client expectations and controlling scope creep.
  • Chairing progress review meetings in iterative delivery.
  • Scheduling meetings, workshops, conference calls, training sessions.
  • Identifying and escalating issues/risks that threaten a significant impact.

Required and Preferred Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Project Management skills, Project Management qualification preferred.
  • MS Project Experience.
  • Administratively strong with good attention to detail.
  • Experience of agile delivery of software solutions.

Essential Requirements:

  • Evidence of previous successful project deliveries.
  • Prince 2 Certification.

We’re looking for a Support Specialist to play a Senior Support Role in our Edinburgh office. The role sits within our busy Cognos Consultancy which is devoted to assisting our reputable, blue-chip clients across multiple sectors.

The role requires preferably over 2 years’ experience and should ideally come from a Cognos development background. All applicants must have experience of working in a support environment, ideally with team leadership experience. You should ideally be ITIL certified, have experience in delivering managed services, and can provide 1st, 2nd and 3rd line support to external customers.

As the ideal candidate you’ll also have stakeholder management skills, be a great communicator, be highly adept at interfacing with the business and understanding the commercial objectives of your work, and have the ability to adapt to both technical and business people.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Leading a small team of Cognos skilled support analysts.
  • Distributing, progressing and reporting workload.
  • Support, diagnosis and fix on existing BI installations.
  • Building and maintaining good customer relationships.
  • Producing appropriate documentation.
  • Maintaining Service Desk management tools.
