Senior Project Manager (Software Solutions)

Location: UK wide.

Salary: From £50,000 to £60,000 pa dependent on experience.

We’re urgently looking for a Project Manager to ensure the successful deliver of highly complex data warehousing and business analytics solutions. You’ll join our fast expanding consultancy team, which is devoted to assisting reputable, blue-chip clients across multiple sectors overcome their information management challenges and unlocking the capability of their data.

The role requires preferably over 5 years’ experience and should ideally come from a software solutions background, with some experience of data transformation projects. All applicants must have significant stakeholder management expertise and be highly adept at interfacing with the business and understanding the commercial objectives of their work.  The candidate must be able to work on their own, without supervision and be willing to travel to different customer sites. They should have excellent communication skills and be able to adapt where needed to both technical and business people.

The successful candidate will have a practical, hands-on style, and demonstrate the ability and willingness to apply a flexible approach to the different challenges that each project will bring.

Team building and team leadership skills will be essential.

Job Responsibilities:
Ensuring the successful (on time & on budget) delivery of highly complex data warehousing and business analytics-based software solutions projects.


  • Managing the delivery of large scale business analytics projects.
  • Ensuring the successful delivery of projects with a range of methodologies.
  • Monitoring and reporting progress against agreed plans.
  • Liaising with technical colleagues and client project staff.
  • Managing and clearing issues logs.
  • Managing client expectations and controlling scope creep.
  • Chairing progress review meetings in iterative delivery.
  • Scheduling meetings, workshops, conference calls, training sessions.
  • Identifying and escalating issues/risks that threaten a significant impact.

Required and Preferred Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills.
  • Project Management skills, Project Management qualification preferred.
  • Prince 2 qualified – you MUST have successfully delivered projects under Prince 2.
  • Advanced User of MS Project.
  • Administratively strong, with good attention to detail.
  • Experience of agile delivery of software solutions.

Essential Requirements:

  • Evidence of previous successful project deliveries.
  • Prince 2 Certification and experience.
  • Valid UK Driving Licence.
  • Willingness to travel.

Systems Administrator
(Database & BI – Cognos Analytics)

Location: Barrachd office in Edinburgh

Salary: £35,000 to £40,000 pa, dependent on experience.

We’re looking for a System Administrator to join our fast-growing analytics team. As our System Administrator you’ll be responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of a business critical software solution that we supply as a service to a large number of clients.

In this role, you will participate in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure. You’ll also ensure that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organisational values, including contracted terms and conditions, enabling customers to achieve maximum benefit from the solution/service.

The role requires, preferably, over 3 years’ relevant experience. You must also have significant stakeholder management expertise and be highly adept at interfacing with the business and understanding the commercial objectives of your work. As the successful candidate, you must be able to work without supervision and be willing to make occasional trips to different customer sites too. Furthermore, your communication skills will be top notch, allowing you to adapt, when needed, to both technical and business people.

The role sits within our fast expanding Social Media Analytics team, which is devoted to assisting our reputable, blue-chip clients across multiple sectors.

Key skills and responsibilities:

Systems management

  • How to manage issues and identify resolution paths (i.e. who can fix it)
  • Monitoring and managing performance
  • Database management, backups
  • Infrastructure – patching, security, supplier liaison
  • Issue prioritisation and escalation

Business Intelligence Tools (ideally IBM Cognos, but any will help)

  • Basic data analysis
  • Report writing
  • Assisting customers with data requirements

Data management

  • Understanding pricing and volumes
  • Monitoring usage against contracts
  • Monitoring and managing supplier updates


  • Helping the team when required / call answering
  • Participation in 7/7/7 rotas
  • Out of hours on call rota
  • 3rd line, help when others can’t!
  • Working in an agile/devops environment


  • Team spirit and a ‘Can do’ attitude.
  • Rapid technical problem solving

Senior Data Warehouse & Analytics Consultant 

Location: UK wide – with work on client sites

Job Type: Permanent

We’re looking to hire a Data Warehouse & Analytics Consultant. As one of the fastest growing Cognos Business Partners in the UK, you’ll work with our team to help our reputable, blue-chip clients overcome their information management challenges and unlocking the capability of their data.

What you will do:

  • Data Warehouse Solutions Architect experience. Designing, implementing and supporting Database solutions.
  • Full project lifecycle, from requirement gathering to design, build, test, deploy and documentation.
  • QA capabilities and diagnosis on existing database installations.
  • Building and maintaining good customer relationships. Significant experience of challenging stakeholder management.
  • Ability to self-manage and work without direct supervision on customer sites.
  • Ability to lead colleagues and small teams.

Your skills should include experience in (some of):

  • IBM Cognos Data Manager/Decision Stream, IBM Infosphere Datastage.
  • IBM Cognos 8/10/11 suite, IBM Cognos Report Studio, IBM Cognos Framework Manager, IBM Cognos Analysis Studio, IBM Cognos Metric Manager, IBM Cognos Query Studio, IBM Cognos Workspace Advanced.
  • Database Skills: SQL Server, Oracle, DB2.
  • Development of ETL and data integration processes.
