Earlier this week, at IBM’s flagship THINK event in San Francisco, Barrachd was awarded the 2019 IBM Excellence Award for Cloud Security.

Sales and Marketing Director Giles Reid was at the gala ceremony to receive the accolade on behalf of Barrachd and Capita.

As a trusted reseller of Cyber security Software, Barrachd worked with parent business Capita to help in the deployment of IBM’s cyber security software across its business.

Barrachd was instrumental in the deal that saw QRADAR purchased for internal deployment extensively across the entire Capita estate.

Barrachd, who specialise in building and deploying data and analytics solutions, has won a number of IBM awards in recent years, including another Partner Excellence Award in 2013.

With more than 4 in 10 UK businesses experiencing a cyber security breach or attack in the last 12 months,* cyber security isn’t just a problem for security managers, it’s now a major business risk and main board issue.

Cyber Securing IBM Award Beacon Awards

“Every organisation needs to have an effective cyber security strategy in place,” says Giles. “As a business where data is central to our customers requirements, this is something that we are acutely aware of. However, it’s important never to overlook your own security. Not only does a robust cyber security strategy protect valuable assets, but it also ensures statutory compliance, adherence to industry regulations, and protection for your brand and reputation.

“In QRadar, IBM has an outstanding cyber security software offering that employs cutting edge AI and analytics to ensure the visibility needed to quickly and accurately detect, prioritise, investigate and respond to threats. Deploying QRadar on the cloud allows elastic scalability and rapid time to value.”

IBM QRadar Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) uses advanced analytics to automatically sort through millions (or even billions) of events every day to detect anomalous and malicious activities, identify and group related events, and generate prioritised alerts to the most critical threats.

QRadar Advisor with Watson uses AI to automate routine SOC tasks and provide actionable feedback to analysts – freeing up time to focus on more important elements of investigation and increasing efficiency.

“We’re delighted to have picked up this award, but it’s Capita’s forward-thinking cyber security strategy that is the real winner here,” added Giles.
