We’d like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who helped make Thursday’s BI User Group the biggest (and best) yet. We’re delighted that so many customers, partners and friends took time out of their busy week to come along.

A special thanks is reserved for our guest speakers Andrew Quickfall & Alan McFarlane from Edinburgh Napier University and Chris Mooney of Community Safety Glasgow for sharing an insiders look into how BI is benefitting their organisations.

Last week saw the BI User Group gather in Edinburgh – an afternoon dedicated to all things BI. With over 50 clients and friends gathered in the grandeur of The Dome, we were treated to guest speakers, expert insights, technical demos and, of course, lunch.

We were delighted to welcome clients from right across the UK, including Birmingham, Sheffield, Manchester, London and Belfast.

Edinburgh Napier University were the first to take the stage, focussing on ‘Information for Strategic Decision Making’ and how the University is using BI to improve the student experience and grow.

Barrachd consultants Matt Jamison and Mike Napthine were up next to look into Dynamic Cubes.

After the coffee break, CSG’s Chis Mooney discussed the power of ETL and the subsequent journey to develop BI as a line of business.

The afternoon session closed by delving into a live demo of Cognos Analytics – the new Cognos BI release – to look at its new interface and functionality.

This was just our second BI User Group and after the success of last year’s event, we had a tough task to follow. However, with a bumper audience and fantastic speakers, we were delighted with the outcome of our latest get-together.

We’ve already taken time to go through every feedback form to make sure we continue to listen to our customers and take on their requests, ensuring that the next event is even better still.

Thanks once again to everyone that made it along. We hope you found it both informative and fun.
