In the words of IBM’s Cognos Analytics offering manager, the newest release of Cognos Analytics – 11.0.12 – is a “Small Release.”

While there are some exciting updates on the horizon, this latest release of Cognos Analytics focusses once again on meeting the requests of current users.

Cognos Analytics 11.0.12 R12The three chief introductions in R12 are:

Multi-lingual dashboards

Users can now translate user generated text into various languages within their dashboards – reflecting the users content locale.

While Cognos Analytics reports have long-supported the ability to provide translations for users based on the content locale of the user accessing the report, R12 brings this capability to the Dashboard experience.

Reset Dashboard

Cognos Analytics helps users to interact more with their dashboards, applying filters and digging deeper into underlying data. But once your questions are answered, or if you realise you’ve travelled down the wrong path, it’s often difficult to trace your steps back to the start of your investigation. R12 has introduced the ability to reset your dashboard, returning you to the dashboard at the state it was last saved – meaning any filters you’ve created won’t be lost when you reset the dashboard.

Allow BI 10.x report permission option

In Cognos Analytics R12, users no longer require Read access to the report spec in order to run in the interactive viewer.

Up until now, users of Cognos Analytics 11.0.x required Read access to the report spec in order to run the report or report view. This change allows customers to control access and visibility to reports and report views at a finer level.
