Thanks to everyone who made it along to our Cognos User Group – it was a real bumper crowd, with users from across the UK joining us in Edinburgh.

We hope everyone had a fantastic afternoon, filled with interesting presentations, live demos and some great opportunities to chat about all things Cognos.

A huge thank you too to our guest presenters from InterGen, MB Aerospace, Capita, IBM and also to our consultants who took the stage…

Cognos User Group

The User Group started with a bite of lunch – and some stunning panoramas of Edinburgh – before splitting into two separate work streams, BI and TM1.

The BI delegates were first treated to a talk from Capita Talent, with Saumya Mishra, the senior data analyst, and Barrachd’s Nina Gillett sharing how the firm uses BI to spot problems and identify opportunities to maintain a happy and motivated workforce. Next up was IBM’s Mike Bolas, who took us on a ‘day in the life’ of the latest Cognos Analytics release.

Meanwhile, in the TM1 group, Intergen’s Phil Taylor shared an fascinating and honest account of the power giant’s Cognos journey, followed by IBM’s Colm Kenneally who took a look at the very latest Planning Analytics technology, exploring its innovations and the roadmap for future developments.

After a coffee break, the Groups reconvened. Kate Merrick, MB Aerospace’s Business Support and UK IT Manager, took the BI stream through the firm’s Cognos Implementation, to show how it uses the technology to help reduce costly inefficiencies.

In the TM1 stream, consultant Dale Michael looked at how we can nurture and develop existing TM1 solutions to anticipate future change, meet new business demands and drive wider uptake.

The Groups then came together again for the final presentation of the day, a live demo by Chris Gauntlet and Nick Waters that brought together TM1 and BI…

Cognos User Group

The BI and TM1 Users stayed together for the post event networking – with the delegates enjoying a few refreshments, some friendly chat and the chance again to drink in the panoramic view of Edinburgh’s unique skyline.

We hope all those who joined us found the afternoon valuable. And thanks again to everyone who helped make this User Group our biggest yet – these events wouldn’t happen without you!
