On 30 September, IBM will end its support for Cognos TM1 10.2.2. But what does that mean for you?

Well, if you’re still on Cognos TM1 10.2.2 (or earlier releases), first of all don’t worry… your software will still function as before! However, End of Service (EoS) does mean that no new development work – or bug fixes – on the software will take place as IBM shifts its full focus to Planning Analytics.

While we (as an IBM support providing partner), will continue to support our customers, now’s perhaps the time to look ahead. If you haven’t made the move to Planning Analytics, this could be the perfect time to upgrade.

Since the release of Planning Analytics, we’ve been working with clients to ensure that they can take full advantage of the updated technology offered.

Planning Analytics Workspace

In fact, we were one of the first consultancies in the UK to help a customer move to Planning Analytics in the Cloud. Since then, we’ve been working closely with a number of businesses to help them explore Planning Analytics and make the move from TM1 to the latest release. We’d be happy to share our experiences, step you through what’s easy to migrate and what needs further consideration, and set your mind at ease.

Our expert Cognos consultancy and support teams are ready to discuss your upgrade options further, to help you explore the new product, and decide with you the migration that best suits your needs and requirements.

What is Planning Analytics?

Planning Analytics is the (relatively) new name – and face – of TM1. Launched by IBM at the very end of 2015, it takes TM1’s powerful, multi-dimensional calculation engine and adds new capabilities and UX to make your planning, budgeting and forecasting even faster (easier) and more flexible than ever before.

In fact, it even offers new Cognitive capabilities – taking you beyond the automation of manual tasks to help you uncover predictive insights directly from your data.

Planning Analytics maintains TM1’s close association with Excel, with PAX – the successor to CAFE – giving you Excel access to the TM1 database. It lets you retain full Excel functionality and formatting, while integrating perfectly with the slick new Workspace.

Planning Analytics’ Workspace (PAW) is perhaps the most striking change – with its shiny new, customisable workspace, making it so much more easy to use. From quickly creating compelling visualisations to share your findings, to navigating multi-dimensional cubes in an interactive viewer, PAW is a welcome addition.

This webinar we recorded shows just how easy it is to create visually rich dashboards in Planning Analytics.

Also, you can see Planning Analytics in action for yourself here. And if you want the inside steer, we caught up with our friend and IBM solutions specialist Colm Kenneally to talk trends, tips and TM1.

So, whether you want to upgrade to get the very latest functionality, or to stay on a fully supported version, speak to Barrachd today to unlock the full power and potential of IBM’s Planning Analytics. Our expert teams are ready to help you explore Planning Analytics and arrange a hassle-free consultation. Just drop support@barrachd.com a quick email, or contact your account manager.
